Applications Procedure
Thank you for your interest in Agia Sophia Academy. The application process is designed to help both the school and applicant families to get to know each other. Please read below for details that will guide you through the process. If we can assist you in any way, please call or email us.
1) Parent Tour and Observation
Montessori applicants are asked to schedule a classroom observation. Observations are scheduled from 9:15-9:45 Monday-Thursday for one adult at a time. It is designed to give you a clear picture of life inside a Montessori classroom and provide an opportunity to record questions about our program for your interview with the teacher. All applicants are invited to schedule a personal tour and observe our classes.
You do not have to submit an application before you take a tour or observe a class. If you are interested in observing a classroom, please give us a call.
2) Application Form and Fee-Due by March 1st
The application and fee should be submitted as soon as possible. Submissions received by January 1st receive a fee waiver and benefit from early placement in the admissions pool. Apply early to have your $50 fee waived!
3) Open House-February 3rd, 2011
We invite you to attend the Agia Sophia open house from 5pm - 7pm, Thursday, February 3rd. It provides you with the opportunity to learn more about the program from the principal, lead teachers and language and art specialists. You are encouraged to tour the open classrooms and meet directly with teachers and parent members of the ASA community.
4) Supporting Application Documents-Required for Enrollment
Submit the Request For Records form to your child's
previous school
Submit the Teacher Recommendation forms to your child's
previous teacher
Submit the completed Parent Questionnaire to ASA
Submit the Priest Recommendation Form (For Orthodox
Christian students) to ASA
Submit student's Birth Certificate to ASA
5) Student Visit
Students are invited to visit the school so that everyone can become better acquainted. This process especially helps younger students feel more comfortable and begin to familiarize themselves with the environment.
6) Letter of Acceptance
Upon submission of your application, an appointment with the principal will be made to discuss enrollment and school policy information. A letter of acceptance will be sent out shortly afterwards.
7) Financial Aid Application Deadline-April 1st
Every family registered in the school is eligible for tuition assistance if available. Approximately 30% of our students currently receive tuition assistance.
Agia Sophia Academy makes use of the FACTS Gant & Aid Assessment Service to help us evaluate requests for financial aid. If you would like to complete an application online, you may go to https://www.factstuitionaid.com/facts/gaindex. There is a small $25 processing fee paid by the applying family directly to FACTS Management Company "FACTS". FACTS is the largest educational financial service provider in the industry serving schools in all 50 states. They have been in business since 1986 and specialize in working with schools like ours.
