FUNDRASING POLICY
May 22, 2008
General Fundraising
Since tuition covers only part of the total cost of education, parents must involve themselves in many activities to help the school, including fundraising projects. To help cover the additional cost of educating each student, Agia Sophia will have a minimum $200.00 per family fundraising commitment per school year. Part or all of these funds may be generated through Chinook Book, Wrapping paper, Poinsettias, the Hanging Plant sale or any other additional fundraisers (excluding Scrip). Any family unable to generate sufficient funds in this manner must pay the balance, due by May 31st. The $200.00 will reflect the fundraising (profit) for all monies raised by each family. The PTP will oversee this program and the PTP treasurer will monitor the fundraising balances of each family.
Example of how to earn $200 Profit for 2008-09:
Profit
Buy or Sell 2 Chinook books $20
Buy or Sell 4 pans Spanokopita or Tiropita $24
Buy or Sell $100 wrapping paper $50
Buy or Sell 4 poinsettias $16
Buy or Sell 4 Spring flower baskets $30
Buy or Sell 3 Children Classics CDs $12
Buy or Sell 2 dinner tickets to Greek Open $50PROFIT $202
**Profit percentages subject to change based on cost of goods received
Scrip Fundraising
During the school year, each family is required to purchase $500 of Scrip from September until June. The Scrip coordinator in conjunction with the PTP Treasurer will oversee this program and will monitor the Scrip balances of each family.
Scrip is offered by many area stores and restaurants as a fund-raiser for schools: Albertson's, Fred Meyer, Safeway, New Seasons, Nature's, Zupan's, JC Penney's, Starbucks, Baja Fresh, Hollywood Video, Powell's and many others participate in this program. Depending on the store, Scrip is available in different denominations.
Buy store scrip from Agia Sophia at face value, and then use it like cash to pay for your purchases. You may get your change back in cash (although some stores limit the amount of cash back). Agia Sophia Academy keeps a percentage (varies depending on vendor) of the value of the scrip sold. It's an easy way to help the school while doing your normal shopping.
Scrip orders are placed every other Monday with order delivery the following Friday. See School Bulletin Board for exact dates. Order forms are located there as well as at the link below.
